Sea Shepherd
Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
The Sea Shepherd are a large group of people that spend their lives protecting animals and making the world aware of the wrong doing that is going on. From sea lions, to dolphins, to interrupting foreign whaling missions this group is on top of it and they are one of the few forces that can save these wonderful species.

Sam Simon
Sam Simon is well known for his involvement in the development of The Simpsons. Not only was he apart of this fun show, but he is also recognized as being a heavily involved philanthropist. He runs the Sam Simon Foundation which rescues and trains strays dogs and has funded the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and was rewarded with having a vessel named after him. His main target for donations are animal rights charities and he has given away most of his money to them. In 2012, Simon was diagnosed with terminal colorectal cancer.
Rest in peace, Sam Simon.
Here are a couple of articles showing what he's been up to:

Dr. Ingrid Visser
Dr. Ingrid Visser is an orca researcher in New Zealand. She is one of the most well known marine biologists for her work on the New Zealand orca specifically, but also covers other orca like Lolita, Morgan, and helped with Keiko's release in Iceland. The New Zealand orca are special because they are one of the few pods who have developed a unique technique in hunting sting rays and sharks (seriously, you have got to check THAT out!). Dr. Visser also runs a research lab called the Orca Research Trust that is not government funded and rely heavily on donations.
